Strawberry Chocolate dessert cake

We hosted a ‘potluck get together’ this weekend at our place. The unanimous decision for the menu was Chaat! Yes, assorted spicy and tangy Chaats to beat the heat! We had Pani puri (Chaat party isn’t complete without this), Bhel puri, Sev Puri, Kachori Chaat, Fruit Chaat.It was fun preparing, serving and eating the Chaats while chatting and gossiping 🙂 ; made everyone forget about the heat! Lebanese Smoked Vegetable Sandwich

Past week we have been gorging on Mediterranean food. Made whole wheat Pita bread using Sanjeevkapoor’s recipe. They turned out quite good with ~ 80% puffing rate! Stuffed it with Falafel from the recipe here and topped it with Nupur’s Tahini sauce. This was just a prelude to the party that we had to host. For the party I made some Pita bread stuffed with smoked vegetables (Lebanese smoked vegetable sandwich) and topped with a yoghurt-mustard dip both recipes from Nita Mehta’s mini cookbook ‘Low cal snacks’. Hot Cross Buns

It’s not Easter yet and still I made these delightful Hot Cross Buns! I wanted to use up some left over Tutti Frutti and also the fresh yeast sitting in my refrigerator for quite some time now. The recipe is from Sanjeevkapoor’s ‘Cakes and Bakes’. My little one was very excited at the mention of Hot Cross Buns; He was delighted that one of his nursery rhymes was in my cookbook too! 🙂 These buns were a delight to make. I have to confess, I always thought Blue cheese was actually blue till I started blogging and surfing food blogs. The festive mood inspires even amateur bakers like me! I made a Cookie Bouquetfor a friend’s daughter’s birthday with Deeba’s sugar cookie recipe; A very simple and easy-to-make recipe. Thanks Deeba for the recipe and many others from your blog which inspire me to bake! I had fun decorating the cookies and making the bouquet.The cookies were decorated with colorful icing recipe from here and sprinkled with colored sugar.
