Apricot Prune Tea Cake

Apricot and Prunes make a delicious combination for this light and simple Tea cake .The slight tangy taste of the dried fruits compliments the sweetness of the cake. Prunes and Apricots add a chewy texture to the cake and help to keep the cake moist. We loved the nutty walnut flavour which also added crunch to the cake. I found the recipe here. I have followed the recipe except that I did not use the ½ tsp salt as suggested. Also I used almost ½ cup of milk instead of ¾ as recommended in the recipe and my baking time…

Crunchy Cookies

I saw the recipe for ‘Crunchy Cookies’ on a TV cookery show. I liked the recipe since it looked quite simple, very few ingredients which I had at home, it needed only Wheat Flour and the cookies were baked for just 10 mins, in the microwave of course! So it gave me a chance to utilize my microwave for something other than just reheating. I made them and sent them to my sweet little nieces (aged 2 and 4) in Mumbai; it’s a fantastic ‘Khau’(snack) for small kids. These ‘Crunchy Cookies’ are also my Christmas present to Zuzana of Zlamushka’sspicy…

Nutri-Sandwich

I love sandwiches for breakfast -They are very quick to make, you can sandwich almost anything between two slices of bread (sometimes even leftover curries), and very easy to carry. Usually I have my breakfast on my way to work so I usually end up making sandwiches for breakfast. This is a spicy but healthy Sandwich.I make it quite often especially, when I am in a hurry with the available veggies. I am sending my Nutri-Sandwich all the way to Newfoundland & Labradorfor Trupti’s WBB#12 –Spice it Up. Nutri-Sandwich for Trupti’s WBB#12 -Spice it Up

Jammy Buns

I have been intending to try out this particular recipe for a long time. Lack of time is a major factor that has constrained me from doing so. When Nandita announced ‘Baking for Breakfast’ as the theme for WBB#7 I decided to finally make it.Thanks Nandita for that .Baking is one culinary activity I plan to take up regularly. I am still at the trial stage. That is I still try my baked recipes on others! Thanks to food blogging and events like this I can hone my baking skill!I found this recipe in a lovely book ‘Baking- Simple cookery’,…

Marble cake with Cranberries

Some very good reasons prompted me to make this cake: #- I found dried Orange flavoured Cranberries in the supermarket here. I had never tasted Cranberries before. Many people here don’t even know what are Cranberries. I was one of them! But I am very experimentive with my cooking and hence grabbed the packets of Dried Cranberries as soon as I saw them. ( that too at an offer I couldn’t resist1 pk. Free with the other! J) #- My niece turns three this week and came down from Mumbai to visit us this weekend. I wanted to bake a…

About Me

About

My experiments with cooking go way back, when I stayed in a hostel for my higher studies. The ‘Mess’ (literally) food was good just to satisfy the stomach, not the palate. I really missed my mom’s food then. I still do. A self confessed foodie, I love trying out new recipes. ...
