Friday Monsoon Magic -Dabeli

Incessant rains and frequent power cuts have kept me off blogging for the past week. Getting to work and back seemed like a big ordeal when rain Gods decided to visit us for 3-4 days continuously. The only positive aspect was the lovely rainy weather (which makes you creep under a blanket with a book in hand, music and some thing to nibble) encouraged me to try some spicy hot recipes. Today, for my Friday -Monsoon Magicseries I have a recipe for Kutchi Dabeli or Double Roti. As the name suggests this recipe finds its origin in the Kutch region…

Friday Monsoon Magic-Corn Chat

Rains and Corn (especially ‘Bhutta’-Corn on the Cob) go hand in hand. The fresh smell of the mud when it rains urges you to eat something steaming hot with a hot cup of Chai (tea). Steaming Corn Chat is another favourite ‘Corn-Monsoon’ recipe. Corn Chaat with a glass of garam garam (hot) chai _________________________________________________________Corn Chat recipe

Nutri-Sandwich

I love sandwiches for breakfast -They are very quick to make, you can sandwich almost anything between two slices of bread (sometimes even leftover curries), and very easy to carry. Usually I have my breakfast on my way to work so I usually end up making sandwiches for breakfast. This is a spicy but healthy Sandwich.I make it quite often especially, when I am in a hurry with the available veggies. I am sending my Nutri-Sandwich all the way to Newfoundland & Labradorfor Trupti’s WBB#12 –Spice it Up. Nutri-Sandwich for Trupti’s WBB#12 -Spice it Up

Batatyacha Kees (Spicy grated Potato)

I am back after a short refreshing weekend trip to Pune – a much needed break from our hectic schedules. I have just realized that February is already over (only 28 days !) and March 1 is already here and that’s the date for JFI –Potato hosted by Vaishali. I have been trying my best to participate in JFI (I have missed a few) and I didn’t want to miss this since it includes one of my most favourite vegetables. Potato (called Batata in Marathi) is a versatile and a very handy vegetable. It teams up well with most of…

Makki di Roti-Sarson da Saag

The festival of Lohri was celebrated on 13th Jan. The traditional Lohri food Sarson da Saag and Makki di Roti is specially cooked for the main course on this day along with sweets and other delicacies. I learnt this mouthwatering duo -the Punjabi way from my Punjabi colleague. Whenever she brings this for lunch I swap my lunch box with her! Now I make it often specially for dinner coz it tastes better if the Roti and Saag are both piping hot. So here’s a typical Punjabi recipe (my friend’s) for Sarson da Saag and Makki di roti. For the…

About Me

About

My experiments with cooking go way back, when I stayed in a hostel for my higher studies. The ‘Mess’ (literally) food was good just to satisfy the stomach, not the palate. I really missed my mom’s food then. I still do. A self confessed foodie, I love trying out new recipes. ...
