Pudina Tofu stir fry (Minty Tofu stir fry)

I happened to ‘accidentally’ discover this recipe. I happened to dip a piece of Tofu in green chutney (made for Bhel / Sev Puri) and it tasted quite good! And thus was born ‘Pudina Tofu stir fry’ :). Now it has become a common recipe in our house since it is quite easy to make. Proteinaceous tofu is marinated with herby Pudina-coriander chutney to make this nutritious, healthy, flavourful and tasty recipe. Another advantage from health point of view is that this recipe requires very little oil! It is called ‘Pudina Tofu stir fry’ for the sole reason that I…

Tandulkyachi Bhaji

Leafy vegetables have always been a part of our diets ever since I was a kid. When we were growing up my mom always insisted on eating leafy vegetables. She grew up that way-eating home grown greens. Whatever vegetables were grown in their farm would be cooked in the house and served along with Bhakri. Leafy greens like Tandulka (no idea what its called in English or any other language), Kardi (Safflower Leaves),Maath(Amaranth-red and green), Shepu (Dill leaves),Ambat Chuka(green sorrel) etc..were more popular in those days than Spinach or Methi (so my grandmother used to tell me.) From their childhood…

Weekend Chaating-From Chaat Street

[rockyou id=63368031&w=426&h=320] Chaat- just the mere mention of the word makes my mouth water. You can’t walk past a ‘Chaatwala’ without sensitizing your taste buds. The last thing on your mind when you enjoy Chaat on the roadside is Hygiene or Health food-That you remember the next day! I have been a ‘Chaat’ person as long as I can remember. When I was small I would argue with my Mom as to why we can’t offer ‘Prasad’(offering to God) of Pani Puri/Bhel Puri to God? Didn’t Gods love it too? J As I said in my last posts it getting…

Beetroot Kofta curry

The basic idea for Beetroot Kofta curry is from the magazine ‘Cooking and More’ by Tarla Dalal. I have adapted the recipe to suit our taste. As I said earlier in one of my posts Beetroot Cabbage curry, Beetroot is one of my favourite veggies and you will rarely find the absence of this vegetable in my fridge.I have slightly altered the masalas for the Beetroot koftas. The gravy/curry in the original recipe was a sweetish Makhani type of gravy.I completely changed the recipe to make a spicy Misal type of gravy. Beetroot lends a lovely pinkish-red hue to the…

Spice It Up

Hot is the word you think of when you see a Red Cocktail Dress. Hot is the word you think of when you see Red chili pepper! Both Red hot and both irresistible. 🙂 Freshly cultivated Red peppers are available in plenty this season and like I said I cant resist the neatly stacked slender and juicy Red hot peppers in the Foodmart.

About Me

About

My experiments with cooking go way back, when I stayed in a hostel for my higher studies. The ‘Mess’ (literally) food was good just to satisfy the stomach, not the palate. I really missed my mom’s food then. I still do. A self confessed foodie, I love trying out new recipes. ...
