Rava-Kakdi Thalipeeth (Semolina-Cucumber Pancake)

This is one of my most favourite breakfast snacks….Kakdi Thalipeeth. This is quite different from the famous Bhajani Thalipeeth that Maharashtrians relish, but taste equally delicious.Just Rava (Semolina, Sooji), Kakdi (cucumber), green chillies, fresh coriander leaves, salt and a little oil is all it takes to make this ‘CJJl’ n spicy Kakdi Thalipeeth. _______________________________________________________ Kakdi Thalipeeth recipe _____________________________________________________Ingredients:

Ambadichi Bhaji (Sour greens curry)

Ambadi greens (Gongura/Sour greens) are widely used in various preparations in many parts of India. What makes this quintessential Maharashtrian recipe so unique, is the use of Jowar ‘Kani’( broken Jowar grains or use Jowar Dalia). The tart leaves are cooked together with the broken Jowar, some Toovar/Arhar Dal, peanuts and then tempered with lots of garlic, to make this comforting Ambadichi bhaji. This bhaji can be served as a light meal on its own or you can serve this with Bhakri or Roti.

Pudina Tofu stir fry (Minty Tofu stir fry)

I happened to ‘accidentally’ discover this recipe. I happened to dip a piece of Tofu in green chutney (made for Bhel / Sev Puri) and it tasted quite good! And thus was born ‘Pudina Tofu stir fry’ :). Now it has become a common recipe in our house since it is quite easy to make. Proteinaceous tofu is marinated with herby Pudina-coriander chutney to make this nutritious, healthy, flavourful and tasty recipe. Another advantage from health point of view is that this recipe requires very little oil! It is called ‘Pudina Tofu stir fry’ for the sole reason that I…

Mexican Paneer Wraps

A couple of days back we went to the local McDonald’s outlet and had their Paneer Salsa Wrap. Over the weekend I tried making my own Mexican Paneer Wraps at home (I can’t use the name ‘Paneer Salsa Wrap’ it seems to be their trademark!) According to family and friends the rolls were much better than the original J(I dedicate my success to lotso’ hard work and love I put into my cooking J) I have no idea how they make at Mc’s but I made them with the available ingredients and to suit our taste. I was very impressed…

About Me

About

My experiments with cooking go way back, when I stayed in a hostel for my higher studies. The ‘Mess’ (literally) food was good just to satisfy the stomach, not the palate. I really missed my mom’s food then. I still do. A self confessed foodie, I love trying out new recipes. ...
