Chatpata Jimmykand

Jimmykand or Suran or Elephant foot Yam did not feature regularly in my cooking earlier- no particular reason but just that I rarely cooked it. It may be due to a rather unpleasant memory of a scratchy throat after eating Suran or maybe the thought of cleaning the rather ugly looking tuber, I am not sure, but was not tempted much to add it to my veggie list. Some time back I learnt to make Jimmykand cutlets at a friend’s place and I loved them. Neither was it very messy to clean nor did it take much time to cook…

Almond Powder

Saturday mornings are special for us. It’s the only time we get to be together, without having to rush for work/school. Though it is my day off, ‘getting up late or sleeping in’ luxury is not for me. The son ensures that. He loves to sleep in on weekdays, when we have to rush for school/work but on a Saturday he is up and shining at 6. Last Saturday was also the same and he insisted to go on a morning walk! He is mighty impressed by some superhero on TV and believes this is the only way to build…

Weekend Chaating-From Chaat Street

[rockyou id=63368031&w=426&h=320] Chaat- just the mere mention of the word makes my mouth water. You can’t walk past a ‘Chaatwala’ without sensitizing your taste buds. As promised earlier, I am posting this recipe for Alu Vadi (Steamed Colacasia/Taro leaf rolls).I made these almost 10 days ago and never got the time to post them. My little one keeps me busy most of the time when I am back from work. Earlier he would go to sleep by 8 -8:30 in the night and I would get some free time to blog .Now-a-days he puts me to sleep! Most of the times I doze off while trying to put him to sleep.Even to take a photograph before I leave to work has now become tricky. He…

About Me

About

My experiments with cooking go way back, when I stayed in a hostel for my higher studies. The ‘Mess’ (literally) food was good just to satisfy the stomach, not the palate. I really missed my mom’s food then. I still do. A self confessed foodie, I love trying out new recipes. ...
